What is an SPV wallet?

SPV, standing for Simplified Payment Verification, was introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto in the original Bitcoin whitepaper. This method allows wallets to offer robust security without requiring the download of the blockchain or running a full node. With SPV, users can independently validate transactions by confirming their inclusion in the blockchain, relying on the header chain with the most cumulative proof of work and accurate hashing difficulty levels.
